Multiplayer Wwise Rocket Lock on Mechanic

This prototype displays a multiplayer missile-lock sound effect triggering when a player has been targeted by a heat seeking rocket from an enemy weapon. It was rapidly prototyped in Unreal Engine 4 utilising blueprints for quick iteration and Wwise as the primary audio engine. Character actions are sent to the server/host and passed onto all clients. When one or more rockets target a player, that targeted player receives an event which triggers the warning beep sfx. An RTPC is updated based on the closest rocket which affects the rate of play depending on how close it is to the player. This gives the player urgency that they need to move to avoid the threat. In the video, you’ll see a sound image icon on the client’s window which has the active sound perspective playing.
